Korean Air Unveils Custom Aircraft Featuring BLACKPINK to Promote Busan World Expo
ROSÉ UPDATE – May 3, 2023 KST

Korean Air has taken a unique approach to promoting the upcoming Busan World Expo by unveiling a special aircraft adorned with a striking image of global K-pop group, BLACKPINK, and their logo.
The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, retaining Korean Air’s iconic light blue color, showcases a large picture of the BLACKPINK members alongside their logo. Above the wings, the phrase “World Expo 2030 Busan, Korea” is prominently displayed. The custom-designed aircraft took center stage at the ‘2030 Busan World Expo Korean Air Special Aircraft Unveiling Event’ held at Incheon International Airport’s aircraft hangar, attended by numerous high-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Han Duk-soo and Korean Air CEO Woo Ki-hong.

BLACKPINK, a South Korean group with worldwide recognition, has a fan base of millions and is known for their musical prowess and captivating performances. Korean Air’s partnership with the group began in March, when they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with YG Entertainment and became the official airline sponsor for BLACKPINK’s world tour.
The eye-catching BLACKPINK aircraft will embark on its maiden flight from Incheon to Paris on May 4, showcasing the Busan World Expo to a global audience. As the plane traverses the skies, it is expected to raise awareness for the Expo and demonstrate South Korea’s strong desire to host the event.

In addition to the specially designed aircraft, Korean Air is also actively promoting the Busan World Expo through in-flight entertainment systems, airport lounges, and their in-flight magazine, Morning Calm. This multi-channel approach ensures that passengers from around the world are informed about the significance of hosting the Expo in Busan.
With the unparalleled popularity of BLACKPINK and the innovative promotional efforts of Korean Air, the Busan World Expo is set to make a lasting impression on the global stage.
