BLACKPINK held their “BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] JAPAN” at the Tokyo Dome on April 8-9, 2023, marking their first performance in the city in over three years and four months since their 2019 world tour [IN YOUR AREA]. The event garnered significant attention as its scale had more than doubled compared to their previous concerts.

Tickets for the concert sold out at a record-breaking rate, even including limited-view seats that opened the day before the event. A pop-up store in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, which opened a week before the concert, attracted crowds of visitors. Over the two days, a total of 110,000 fans gathered at the venue, demonstrating BLACKPINK’s overwhelming ticket power.

The group responded to fans’ anticipation with a passionate opening, elevating the energy with powerful performances of hits like ‘How You Like That,’ ‘Pretty Savage,’ and ‘Whistle.’ They followed up with tracks from their second full-length album [Born Pink], which topped both the US Billboard and UK Official charts, including the title song ‘Shut Down’ and mega-hits like ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU,’ and ‘Lovesick Girls.’

Not only group performances but also solo stages showcasing each member’s unique charm heated up the atmosphere in the vast Tokyo Dome. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa captivated the audience with their distinctive auras and musical styles. Jisoo, in particular, presented her first live performance of ‘Flower,’ the title track from her solo album [ME], which was released in March. Her unique charm, overwhelming group dance with her dancers, and stunning stage production that maximized the theme of the song drew fervent responses from the audience.

The members then continued their performance, demonstrating their prowess as live performers from the original setlist to the encore. The rich band sound and YG’s concert know-how featuring diverse visual elements also captivated fans’ hearts. From start to finish, the audience stood in the stands, waving their light sticks and singing along, enjoying the concert to the fullest.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is currently in the midst of the largest K-pop girl group world tour, attracting approximately 1.5 million attendees.
