BLACKPINK Impact on Gaming Market is ‘Powerful’: BPTG Pre-Registrations Surpass 1 Million

ROSÉ UPDATE – April 7, 2023 KST

BLACKPINK has proven their strong influence in the global gaming market as BLACKPINK The Game (BPTG) Pre-Registrations Surpassed 1 Million.

On April 7, YG Entertainment announced that the number of pre-registrations for the new mobile game ‘BLACKPINK The Game,’ based on BLACKPINK’s IP, exceeded 1 million within just two days. Set to be officially launched in the second quarter of this year, ‘BLACKPINK The Game’ is a game where players become producers of BLACKPINK in the metaverse world and train the members.

Since pre-registration began on April 4, photos revealing the actual gameplay have been released, causing global fans’ anticipation to grow by the day. Intricate BLACKPINK-specific stories, puzzle games, office management simulations, and the BLACKPINK World are among the various game modes that have been teased.

In the future, exclusive content such as game OSTs sung by BLACKPINK themselves, music videos, and behind-the-scenes footage from the production will be unveiled one after another, further fueling the excitement for the game.

A YG representative stated, “BLACKPINK has actively participated in numerous aspects of the game production process, including costumes and concepts, for BLINKs around the world. Please look forward to this project, as the members have dedicated considerable time and passion into the game.”

TakeOne Company also said, “As the world’s best girl group, BLACKPINK has been receiving great attention in the market even before its release, and “BLACKPINK The Game” is a different kind of game that combines various genres in high quality, satisfying both users and the fandom. We ask for your continued interest.”

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is currently conducting their largest-scale K-pop girl group world tour, ‘BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK],’ attracting approximately 1.5 million attendees. After successfully completing 14 shows in seven cities in North America and 10 shows in seven cities in Europe last year, the four members are now meeting more fans in Asia. They will also perform as headliners at the ‘Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’ in the United States in April and the ‘British Summer Time Hyde Park Festival’ in London’s Hyde Park in July.
